DESCRIPTION:
Friday, June 1, 2012 will be an educational day for local South Scranton students featuring an
historical tour of the historic Scranton Iron Furnaces, an environmental tour of Roaring Brook, and a
live chainsaw wood carving demonstration.
On Friday night, from 8 to 11PM will be the Fire at the Furnace fundraiser to benefit the Anthracite
Heritage Museum and Scranton Iron Furnace Associates group, a non-profit membership organization
decided to telling the story of the people of the Anthracite region in NEPA.
Tickets are $15 in advance (tickets can be purchased at the Anthracite Heritage Museum, 22 Bald
Mountain Road, McDade Park, Scranton 19504 or by calling 570.963.4804 and at AFA Gallery during
First Friday May and June), and $20 at the door.
Tickets include food, beer/wine and entertainment including a live nighttime iron pour by
Keystone Iron Works.
Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 11AM to 7PM and Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 11AM to 5PM are the general
festival days featuring food and industrial arts vendors as well as live industrial art demonstrations.
Children activities will run from 12-4PM on Saturday and all day on Sunday.
This exciting event will include featured industrial art demonstrations, art and craft vendors, food, live
music, historical displays and tours of the Iron Furnaces. Saturday’s featured industrial art demos are
glassblowing, professional blacksmithing, and a one time performance of the “Ring of Fire” performed by Steamtown
National Historic Site. Sunday’s featured demonstrations are iron pouring, professional blacksmithing, and a one
time performance of the “Ring of Fire” performed by Steamtown National Historic Site.
"Arts on Fire" is free and open to the public thanks to the generous support of our funders, including the Arts
ENGAGE! - Keystone Iron Works Grant, Keystone College, Lackawanna County and the LHVA.ARTIST
