Festival of Wood
WHERE: Grey Towers National Historic Site, DESCRIPTION: Annual Festival of Wood event with unique handmade wood crafts and art exhibited, sold and demonstrated including wood furniture, pipe boxes, shaker boxes, wooden bowls, fretwork and hand-carved sculptures. Event also includes a film and lectures about wood, forestry, educational exhibits and informational handouts. Topics such as Alternative Forest Products and Private Forests Landowners are offered. U.S. Forest Service wood technology initiatives and reducing your carbon footprint. A living history program and refreshments celebrating Gifford Pinchot’s birthday. All three floors of the historic mansion are open for visitors both days; a $4 fee is charged. Children’s activities include games using wood products, building a bluebird nest box, and more! Listen to free music with wood instruments throughout the day. Refreshments are available for sale.
